Monadeniums come from tropical Africa and they are closely related to Euphorbias.  They vary in size from small plants to Trees.  They like warmth and should be protected from the cold.  Most of them shed their leaves in the winter and that is when they should be left to rest.  During the growing months they like to be fertilized and watered regularly.  They can be grown in the shade with bright light.  The more light they are exposed to, the redder their leaves become.
